ArteAndaluz.net is the first virtual art gallery dedicated to showcasing the work of new and established artists from the vibrant Spanish region of Andalucia. Here the bright mediterranean sunlight and stunning scenery has inspired many new artists and attracted a large number of established artists to move to the region.
El Arte Andaluz
Andalucia has a rich cultural and artistic heritage, dating back to the Muslim invasion of 711. The Nasrid and Almohad dynasties that ruled the region for seven centuries left behind a spectacular artistic legacy embodied by the architectural monuments of Seville, Córdoba and Granada. Their unique style of decorative arts inspired the Múdejar Arabic-Spanish art form and continues to influence art and architecture in the region.
At the high point of Andalucian art in the 17th century, the region gave birth to numerous influential artists, including Velázquez and Murillo. The city of Malaga gave us perhaps one of the 20th century's most famous artists, Pablo Ruiz Picasso.
There remains a strong tradition of fine art in Andalucia; the Fine Arts Museum in Seville is the second largest gallery in Spain, and there are a number of highly regarded arts faculties in the region.

ArteAndaluz.net was set up in 2009 as an online gallery to showcase the work of contemporary artists from all over Andalucia. Although this will initially comprise mainly of artists based in the Costa Tropical of Granada, we hope to expand our scope to include all of the provinces in this large and diverse region. The website is currently a space for artists to display their work and gain exposure beyond the local community. We will soon be adding a secure payment facility to purchase art online direct from ArteAndaluz.net.
